Green Chalet Valtellina

Holiday House in Morbegno in the hills

In the tranquil heart of the Bitto Valley in Albaredo, nestled among the woods of the Orobie Valtellinesi Park, stands the Green Chalet Valtellina, a historic alpine cabin that retains the charm of wood and stone. Carefully restored with respect for the original materials, the chalet blends the warmth of traditional architecture with the comfort of a modern home, making it an authentic retreat for those seeking a break in nature without sacrificing convenience. The interiors are well-designed and inviting, featuring spacious and well-organized areas: a living room with a fireplace and an antique wood stove, perfect for winter evenings; a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine; two functional bathrooms with linens provided; three bedrooms and a large king-size sofa bed to comfortably accommodate couples, families, or small groups. All spaces are designed to promote relaxation, sociability, and the well-being of guests. Outside, a large private garden unfolds, where time seems to slow down. A covered porch welcomes the outdoor dining area, perfect for enjoying meals surrounded by greenery. The pizza oven and barbecue invite gatherings for dinner, while the loungers and natural solarium provide moments of pure relaxation under the alpine sky. Adding to the charm, there’s a delightful wooden playhouse for children, featuring play and reading corners, nestled among fruit trees and mountain scents. The chalet’s location, a short distance from Morbegno and Lake Colico, allows for easy exploration of Valtellina, with its historic villages, terraced vineyards, local festivals, and hiking trails. In autumn, wineries open their doors for tastings and local traditions; in summer, trails weave through breathtaking views and ancient mule tracks; in winter, nearby ski resorts like Pescegallo and Valmalenco offer snowshoeing, skiing, and snowy landscapes. Accessible by car along the scenic road leading to Passo San Marco, the chalet offers reserved parking and is close to a local public transport stop. Open year-round, it is ideal for romantic getaways as well as family stays, providing authentic hospitality in one of the most picturesque corners of the Lombard mountains. Here, each season brings different emotions, but always with the same promise: to rejuvenate in harmony with nature.

Area hills

The hill of Morbegno offers a unique perspective on Valtellina: tranquil, green, and scenic, yet conveniently located just minutes away from Morbegno, often referred to as the "Pearl and crossroads of the Alps." Here, the valley reveals its most authentic side, featuring forests and alpine pastures, small rural communities, and historic roads that narrate centuries of alpine transit, agricultural culture, and living traditions. Morbegno is worth a leisurely stroll through its historic center, filled with arcades, shops, and elegant views, with a must-see stop at Palazzo Malacrida, a rare example of Lombard Baroque, notable for its decorative richness and atmosphere. In the vicinity, you can find iconic sites like the Ganda Bridge, a symbol of the area, which also serves as an excellent starting point for exploring trails that lead to the side valleys. For those who enjoy thrilling experiences in nature, the Ponte nel Cielo in Val Tartano is just a short distance away, suspended between the slopes and offering spectacular views, making it perfect for outings filled with scenery and photography. Further along, Val Masino unfolds, renowned for its granite landscape and crystal-clear pools, including the picturesque "Bidet della Contessa," a curious and scenic destination during summer days. The region also invites trekking: the historic Via Priula, an ancient alpine connecting route, runs alongside the chalet and presents the perfect opportunity for memorable hikes through forests, mule tracks, and remnants of the past. As you ascend towards Albaredo per San Marco, you discover one of the most beautiful Painted Villages, recognized as Italy's first MetaBorgo, a place that combines art, identity, and landscape with truly unique charm. And even though Civo is more understated and less "flashy," it remains a genuine corner of Valtellina, filled with silence, nature, and authenticity—an ideal setting for those seeking a vacation that blends relaxation, hiking, and cultural discoveries, with Morbegno and the grand alpine valleys always within easy reach.
